Get your Christmas Tan – Party Perfect

Party season has landed, your skin has most probably been neglected as our ‘me time’ goes out of the window. We all want to look good in our party dress and here’s how to prep your skin to obtain the perfect tan:

For extra nourishing this winter, start exfoliating and moisturising 3 days leading up to the tan as this will help get the glow back into your tan this Christmas.

24 hours before your tan: Ensure all your hair removal is done, if you are a shaver I recommend shaving the under arms the next day as it gives you that cleaner fresher feeling.

If you’re planning on tanning in the morning exfoliate the night before but if you’re planning to tan in the evening, then exfoliate that morning. Using an oil free soft exfoliator will remove dead skin cells and make the tan application smoother. Apply using circular motions, paying attention to the areas where the skin tends to be dryer - elbows, hand, knees, feet, arm crease and where your bra strap sits.

The arm crease is an area that’s very much neglected, it will grab fake tan easily creating a darker area. The majority of us wear our bra straps too tight, from this they rub on the skin leaving us with dry bra strap marks on the skin!

After exfoliating, follow by using a moisturiser, preferably an oil free, to combat dry skin and ensure a longer lasting tan.

Day of the tan: After your last exfoliation, before the application, shower down with some cool running water to help close your pores and cool down your skin. If your skin is too hot before tanning, you can perspire making the skin reject the tan or you could even sweat while you are applying it. Your skin also needs to be as product-free as possible – no body moisturiser, deodorant, perfume or makeup etc...

Directly before the tan: Apply the St. Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Moisturiser to your elbows, hands (including the inner-wrists), knees and feet. Use whatever remains on your hands to rub into the crease of the underarm.

For the self-tan: Use the Madame LA LA Mousse this adapts to your own natural skin complexion so you won’t be too dark and leaves a silky finish. To apply the tan use the Bronzie Got Your Back tanning mitt, especially designed to easily access hard to reach areas, lie your back and to ensure a gorgeously even tan.

Now you have your chosen tan and your mitt - I advise applying it in front of a mirror to ensure you can see if you have missed anywhere.

Apply more tan to the mitt as and when needed.

Legs: Apply the product to the two mitt ends and blend the tan into the front and back of one leg, using upward movements towards the thigh, leaving the knees and feet to last. Use the remaining product to brush onto the knees and feet and finally the toes. Repeat on the other leg.

Back: Apply the product to the middle panel of the mitt, place hands in each mitt and wrap the panel around the back. Starting from the bottom of the back, pull the panel from side to side, moving up the back. For the upper back area, use diagonal movements. Use the remaining product to brush onto the back and sides of the neck.

Front: Apply the product to the two mitt ends, using circular motions blend the tan over the tummy and towards the chest. Use the remaining product to brush onto your shoulders and front of neck.

Underarms: Use the remnants of tan that’s on the mitt to go around the underarm then using a tan free side of the mitt buff it in towards the centre of the underarm.

Arms: Blend the tan down from your shoulder to the arm, leaving the elbows and hands last.

Then brush over the elbow while it’s bent and to the wrist leaving 2 inch gap to the palm then blend the tan towards the palm with a clean side of the mitt. To finish, make a claw-like shape with your hands and brush the remaining product onto the hands and around each finger. Repeat on the other arm.

Face: Pat over the face with each mitt end with the remaining tan.

Finish by using a wet wipe to clean fingernails, palms and toenails.

FINALLY – Step into your Bronzie after tanning jumpsuit!
